The luxury of peace

I think a lot of us grow up believing that life is supposed to be a constant pursuit of more.
More success, more recognition, more money and more proof that we’re doing well.
We spend years imagining that one day we’ll finally arrive at a version of life where everything feels complete.
But the older I get, the more I question that idea.
Because I’ve met people who seem to have everything and still can’t sit alone with their own thoughts at night. And I’ve also met people living very simple lives who somehow carry a kind of calm that feels almost impossible to find now.
Lately I keep wondering when was the last time I actually went to sleep feeling completely at peace.
Not distracted enough to temporarily forget my thoughts, but genuinely calm inside my own mind.
The kind of calm where your thoughts stop chasing you the moment the room becomes quiet.
I think that feeling has become rare.
Maybe that’s why so many of us keep filling our lives with noise, with work, with scrolling, with constant stimulation.
Because silence has a way of confronting us with everything we’ve been avoiding.
Maybe luxury isn’t a designer bag or the latest phone anymore.
Maybe none of those things can give us what we’re actually searching for.
Maybe real luxury is reaching a point where your mind no longer feels at war with itself.
Where you can end an ordinary day, lay in bed, and feel calm in both your mind and your heart.
As time passes, everything becomes so clear to me.
This kind of real luxury is something money could never buy.
